ALWAYS - DVD MovieConsidered by many to represent a low point in Steven Spielberg's career, 1990's Always did suggest something of a temporary drift in the director's sensibility. A remake of the classic Spencer Tracy film A Guy Named Joe, Always stars Richard Dreyfuss as a Forest Service pilot who takes great risks with his own life to douse wildfires from a plane. After promising his frightened fiancée (Holly Hunter) to keep his feet on the ground and go into teaching, Dreyfuss's character is killed during one last flight. But his spirit wanders restlessly, hopelessly atta! ched to and possessive of Hunter, who can't see or hear him. Then the real conflict begins: a trainee pilot (Brad Johnson), a likable doofus, begins wooing a not-unappreciative Hunter--and it becomes Dreyfuss's heavenly mandate to accept, and even assist in, their budding romance. The trouble with the film is a certain airlessness, a hyper-inventiveness in every scene and sequence that screams of Spielberg's self-education in Hollywood classicism. Unlike the masters he is constantly quoting and emulating in Always, he forgets to back off and let the movie breathe on its own sometimes, which would better serve his clockwork orchestration of suspense and comedy elsewhere. Still, there are lovely passages in this film, such as the unforgettable look on Dreyfuss's face a half-second before fate claims him. In 1959 South Korea was mired in poverty. By 1979 it had a powerful industrial economy and a vibrant civil society in the making, which would lead to a democratic breakthrough eight years later. The transformation took place during the years of Park Chung Hee’s presidency. Park seized power in a coup in 1961 and ruled as a virtual dictator until his assassination in October 1979. Wendy and Lucy would aptly be titled Wendy’s Bad Day, ! as problems pile up due to one main misstep. Williams does a g! reat job portraying a woman who is semi self-sufficient but clueless in the art of survival. As the film speaks to many young people who have been broke and stranded, one will inevitably wonder why Wendy makes the unwise choices she does, for example sleeping in a dangerous area along a train track instead of finding a safer campground, or wandering the streets looking for her lost pooch in lieu of hunkering down for a temporary part-time job. The film straddles the line between social realism and fantasy in this regard, provoking frustration during certain plot twists. However, Wendy and Lucy is a pleasure to look at for its grainy greenery, hypnotic, sweeping landscape and train yard shots, and for the story, when it centers on developing the deep bond between a lady and her dog. --Trinie DaltonAn accountant is introduced to a mysterious, sex-dating club known as The List by his lawyer friend. He becomes enthralled in this new lifestyle, but he soon becomes the prime! suspect in a womanâ??s disappearance and a multimillion-dollar heist.With its attractive cast and "stylish thriller" vibe, Deception is a much better movie than a raft of negative reviews might suggest--provided that you can suspend (if not completely discard) your disbelief and go along for the ride. The first feature by veteran commercial director Marcel Langenegger, it stars Ewan McGregor as Jonathan McQuarry, a mousy freelance tax auditor who’s taken under the wing of one Wyatt Bose (Hugh Jackman), a slick, ultra-confident Manhattan lawyer. We know from jump that Jonathan’s new best friend isn’t all, or even any, that he seems, and sure enough, when the pair "accidentally" switch cell phones, a series of credibility-defying events destined to turn Jonathan’s bleak, lonely life upside down is set in motion. At first, it’s all good, as the wide-eyed young CPA finds himself joining "The List," a Wall Street sex club that brings together lawyers, stockbr! okers, and other professionals whose lives are too busy for an! ything m ore than brief, anonymous assignations at various high-rent hotels (exchanging real names is verboten is this world). But apparently spending nights with the likes of Natasha Henstridge and Charlotte Rampling isn’t enough; when he meets the blonde beauty known only as "S" (Michelle Williams), the club’s credo of "intimacy without intricacy" goes out the window, lust turns to love, and Jonathan is drawn into a protracted cat-and-mouse game that leads to murder, big-time corporate embezzlement, identity switches, and other nefarious activity. Friendship can prove more complicated than romance. Me Without You follows two British girls from their 1970s preadolescence to contemporary adulthood. From the author: A fine fibril structure of a thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer (TLCP, a poly(ester amide)) can be developed in a shear flow field of a ! thermoplastic matrix (polystyrene, PS). Addition of a third component, a poly(styrene-co-maleic anhydride) (SMA), that interacts with the thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer facilitates the structural development of the TLCP phase by acting at the interface. Moreover, it brings about good adhesion at the interface and enables the dispersed liquid crystalline polymer phase to be deformed in shear flow without strong elongation even though the viscosity of the matrix is much lower than that of the liquid crystalline polymer. The mechanical properties were substantially improved because of both the good adhesion at the interface and fibril generation, which were ascribed to the SMA interaction. These results have important implications in that they provide a means to produce strong and tough in-situ composites when the viscosity of the matrix polymer is lower than that of the dispersed liquid crystalline polymer which is Immiscible with the matrix polymer. Morphological ob! servations determined the significance of the third component ! (SMA) in immiscible polymer blends, and an optimum amount of SMA exists for best mechanical performance.

Phenomenal increase in data services which enable mobile communication access to critical aspects of human society/life has led to standardization of SAE/LTE (System Archite! cture Evolution/Long Term Evolution) by 3GPP and IEEE 802.16e/WiMAX. SAE/LTE is also known as Evolved Packet System (EPS). This book addresses the newer security issues that have arisen as a result of penetration of mobile communications and standardization. In particular, the book focuses on the latest security developments in 3GPP SAE/LTE and WiMAX. The intended audience for this book are mobile network and device architects, designers, researchers and students. The goal of the authors, who have a combined experience of more than 25 years in mobile security standardization, architecture, research, and education, is to provide the book's readers with up-to-date information about the architecture and challenges of EPS and WiMAX security. The book has six chapters; the first three chapters are intended to be introductory ones, and the remaining three chapters provide an in-depth assessment of security provisions. Chapter 1 provides a background to the Next Generation Mobile! Networks (NGMN) activity and requirements. Chapter 2 provides! an over view of security, telecommunication systems and their requirements. Chapter 3 provides some background information on standardization. Chapter 4 discusses the EPS (or SAE/LTE) security architecture developed by 3GPP, in particular, the authentication and key agreement method for SAE/LTE together with newly defined key hierarchy.
